The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Indabawa, has charged the newly trained 2nd batch of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to always educate members of the public on the need to have the police as their friends.
Mr. Indabawa gave the charge during the passing out of the completed 2nd batch general training OF members of PCRC at the Civic Centre Port Harcourt.
The Rivers Police Boss described members of PCRC in the state as dependable partners in progress, noting that they are part of the public family as well as a unique body that bridges the gap between the police and the public and enjoined them not to relent in their efforts.
He appealed to the public to always report any act of corruption or any officer that misbehaved to the appropriate quarters and assured that the command is poised to deal drastically with bad eggs in the command.
Mr. Indabawa expressed delight over the 706 members of the PCRC and assured them of their identification cards (ID card).
Earlier in his speech, the Rivers State chairman of the PCRC, Hon. Austine Young who expressed, said the training will further highlight their functions as well as the need to partner with the police effectively.
Hon. Young disclosed that the training would be done annually and urged those who could not attend the training to avail themselves of it in September and called on the Divisional Police Officers and the area command chairmen to encourage the police community forums in their areas to enlighten the public on the need for synergy between the police and the communities and commended the division that has held such fora.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ben Oguegbulam, while commanding the police commissioner for his encouragement, thanked the PCRC for their orientation programme and enjoined them to put their training into practice to have good understanding relationship with the public land. ###
