You’re Very Important, NDDC Tells NUJ

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has described the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as a dependable ally that is very important in the development of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria as a whole.

The Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. (Mrs.) Christie Atako stated this recently when the NUJ executive paid her a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.

According to her, the NDDC had always partnered with the NUJ, having known its worth and promised to sustain the tempo.

The NDDC boss called on journalists to continue to be objective in their reportage, assuring that the commission will do everything within its power to support NUJ.

Dr. Atako emphasized the fact that the sole aim of establishing NDDC is to develop the Niger Delta, noting that the commission will not relent in its effort to meet that target.

The NDDC Managing Director also said that a major stakeholder in the project of developing the Niger Delta region are the people, who she described as the end-users.

Mrs. Atako told NUJ not to hesitate to seek the commission’s assistance, if the need arises.

The NUJ chairman Rivers State Council, Mr. Opaka Dokubo had earlier told the NDDC Acting Managing Director and the new board that the delegation came to congratulate them on their appointment. Mr. Dokubo asked NDDC to always involve its members (journalists) in the assignment of developing the Niger Delta region.

The NUJ state boss also called on NDDC to support the council in the area of training as the contemporary world demands training and retraining of professionals in every field to ensure efficiency. ###
