The Rivers State Police Command has debunked media report which alleged that the reason for the removal of the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Mrs. Angela Agabe from her position was politically motivated.
The Sun Newspaper Tuesday had hinted that the police authorities have been suspecting that Mrs. Angela Agabe was divulging information to Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
According to the source, apart from being accused of having a dance step different from that of the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu and she hails from Ogoni land, the same ethnic nationality where Senator Magnus Abe, senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District came from and who many people believe that could succeed governor Amaechi in 2015.
In a press statement issued by the Rivers State Police Command, the Rivers State Police Commissioner who announced the appointment of the new image maker of the command as DSP Ahmad Kidaya Muhammad disclosed that the redeployment of the former Police Public Relations Officer of the sate was not politically motivated as was reported by the said newspaper rather it is a normal routine, adding that the statement is far from being the truth.
The command however solicited for the co-operation of the good people of Rivers State and the media in its quest to provide peaceful and crime free environment for sustained economic activities in the state.
The statement further stated that the new Rivers State PPRO DSP Muhammad joined the Nigeria Police in 2005 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and holds Bachelor degree in Mass Communication from the Bayero University, Kano and has also served in this capacity in Taraba and Gombe police command respectively.
