Comrade Ateke Tom made this declaration when speaking with journalists during his sponsored first 5-A-side male football competition at his Okochiri Estate football pitch on 15th of September, 2013.
According to Comrade Chief Ateke Tom, his reasons of pledging his support for President Jonathan’s candidature in the 2015 presidential election is that, president Goodluck Jonathan is a good man. “I like him and I want him to declare to contest the 2015 election and I believe he will win. I am also paying for him to win”. He stated.
Concerning the impasse going on in the Peoples Democratic (PDP) family comrade (Chief) Ateke Tom advised that they should settle their differences so that the Peoples Democratic Party will stand as one indivisible family to fight other political parties in the Nigerian political game.
The man many believed was not a lover of peace who today is seen as a good man and family head is advising the Rivers State political groups to come to terms and make peace but opined that any particular group that says no to settlement should leave the Peoples Democratic Party.
However, he believes that all the crisis will be amicably settled so that Peoples Democratic Party both at the National level and Rivers State will speak with one voice and confront other parties in the Nigeria.
But above all he said he is praying for President Jonathan to declare his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election while praying for him to win come 2015. ###
