The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) Women Committee, Rivers State Council, has concluded its delegates election.

The election which took place at the new AUPCTRE Secretariat, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, witnessed the emergence of Comrade Rose Ngowari Uranta Adichio as the chairperson, Comr. Harvest Amanukwo, as Vice Chairperson, Comrade Joy Tonye as the Secretary, Comr. Inimgba Phoebe Piriye, Treasurer and Comr. Imbu, Dango Joy as the Public Relation Officer (PRO).

In his address at the occasion, Comr. James Koba, AUPCTRE General Secretary and Presiding Electoral Chairman of the election, congratulated the women on behalf of the state executive council of AUPCTRE for a successful election.

He urged the women not to abandon those they have given their mandate, but ensure that they criticize them (executives) constructively, adding that nobody is an enemy, as far as the election was concerned.

Koba however, enjoined the new executive members to rise up to the challenges ahead, urging them to also venture into politics in their various wards and LGAs, with the assurance of having the support of members.

While Comrade Edna Onwuasoanya, Chairperson Nigerian Labour Congress Women Committee, Rivers State Council, used the occasion to advise her fellow comrades to always show love to one another and be bold as labour members, in order to exhibit the God-given potentials that is deposited in them, through active participation in union and other activities.

In her acceptance speech, Comrade Rose Uranta, the newly elected Chairperson of AUPCTRE Women Committee disclosed her readiness to serve and not to lead her fellow comrades. She advised her members not to come between her and any member as they will always settle at any given misunderstanding, if there would be any.

Rose affirmed that her administration will be that of change that will bring AUPCTRE to where it is expected to be, with the collective ideas of members. She was of the view that they will surpass some of the challenges of the immediate past administration with the support of God and Council.###
