England born Eagles star Shola Ameobi has joined the Super Eagles as to lead the Eagles attack against South African Bafana Bafana in a friendly tie in that country.
The encounter is a special friendly match to mark the birthday of South Africa elderstatesman, Nelson Mandela.
The quest to having the gifted England born Nigerian star to join the Super Eagles has been one headache, Keshi has been fighting over the years since he took over as the coach of the national team.
According to Keshi, “I am delighted to finally have Shola Ameobi join me in building a formidable national team for Nigerians. Shola Ameobi is one talented player that I can not leave out in the Super Eagles Squad.
He is a rare talent, A special one. He is a gifted potential captain to the national team if he could only keep his head down and cooperate with the system.
I wanted someone who will do the talking for me in the field of play, after watching in his few hours with the Eagles he has demonstrated to his playmates, telling them what to do while playing along side in the pitch. That is the player coach in the field”. Keshi stated.
Ameobi has on his part vowed to make the Bafana Bafana suffer as he swore to show them no mercy in the encounter.
However, its no longer news that dependable defender Kenneth Omewo and prolific goal poacher, Emmanuel Emenike will not be part of the Eagles/Bafana Bafana match, for injury and clubside engagement. ###
