1st Lady’s Visit: IYC Issues 48 Hour Ultimatum To Okrika Chairman

DAME PATIENCE GOODLUCK JONATHANFollowing the visit of the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan the Ancient Okrika Kingdom, the clan head of Okrika, Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Eastern zone in collaboration with other youths of Okrika LGA had issued 48 hour ultimatum to the Okrika LGA boss, Hon. (Barr.) Tamuno Williams to explain why he was absent from the event when the 1st Lady arrived the council.

The clan head, Com. John Pual Worika, chairman of Ijaw Youths Council Okrika/Wakirike Be-Se clan and Hon. Comr. Ransome Waka Opuiyo, National Parliamentarian of IYC Okrika clan said the Okrika LGA boss, Hon. (Barr.) Tamuno Williams  should tell the Okrika in particular, the eastern Zone/Rivers/Nigeria in general why he was absent during the first lady’s visit who is also an Okrika Ijaw personality in Okrika on Saturday 22nd June 2013.

A statement issued and signed by the said clan head has it that the Okrika council chairman should also come out to the open to explain to the people of Nigeria and indeed Africa why he should not come out to honour her before the presence of international, national and state dignitaries, adding that he shouldn’t have absented himself irrespective of the political turmoil in the state.

Speaking to our correspondent on the 48 hour ultimatum, the clan head queried if the first lady was not a mother to him and the Okriakans, Rivers people, Nigeria, expressing that he should explain how Mrs. Jonathan has offended him reminding him that the mandate for his being in the council was facilitated by the Wakirike Ijaw youths.

This medium gathered that comrade Paul Worika and Oruiyo had already summoned a meeting with youths of Okrika to intimate them on the recent development.

Our correspondent gathered that the purpose of the 1st Lady’s visit was to facilitate the burial of her late step father, Mr. D. Nyengierefoka, the ground break ceremony of an ongoing project and to see family members she had left long ago.

Every effort made to reach the Okrika chairman to hear his own side of the story proved abortive as his telephone lines did not go through. ###
