The chairman of Abua/Odual LGA, Hon. Udi Odum had empowered the women of the local government area.
Presenting 20 ladies motorcycles to the women of the area, the council Boss said the gesture is part of democracy dividends to the people.
The chairman said at the council headquarters that it is imperative that the women should be empowered because of the role they play during election.
Speaking to journalist shortly after the event, Hon. Odum maintained that he will continue to empower the women every month with 20 ladies motorbike across the wards of the LGA.
The chairman stated that the bike is in fulfillment of his promise to the women and is what they ask for.
The soft spoken Chairman told journalists that this is the second time and henceforth every month such program will be done until his tenure is over.
Answering questions on the method of distribution, he said only supporters of the administration will benefit because without loyalty and support one cannot benefit.
He said the first to benefit from the month of June will be the women leaders, then other women from the 13 wards will be among those that will get the bike for their personal use. Hon. Odum advice the beneficiaries to be safety conscious when using the motorbike.
Responding, one of the women who benefited from the empowerment, Mrs. Dibo Amakiri from Amalem community in Abua/Odua LGA said the chairman had done well and he should continue so that others will benefit while praying that God should bless the chairman.
Asked what she will use the bike for, she said for farming and other social event. ##
