Health: Remove Slaughter From Public Toilet, Bille Residents In PH Warns Operator

Residents of Ibimina Polo Community in Bille Waterside, Port Harcourt are calling on the relevant authority in Rivers State to visit the recently established mini slaughter market at the corridor of public toilet in the area.

Speaking with the Public Relations Officer of the community, Mr. Johnson Bokoko called on the relevant authorities to ensure the close down of the slaughter, saying that the continued operation of the slaughter market is hazardous to the residents of the area as its location is by a public toilet.

The operator of the market business positioned the market on a dust bin of about 5 meters close to a public toilet in Ibimina Polo Community, Bille waterside off St. Jude Bustop Creek Road market, boasting that he has settled the relevant authorities of Rivers State Ministry of Health to operate the slaughter market with all documents given to him by the Ministry.

Meanwhile, Comr. Alapakabia Tobin, the General Secretary of the community who lamented the operation of the slaughter market in such area, said he is changing relevant authority to swing into action to protect Rivers people from  environmental pollution.

Comr. Tobin also disclosed that the excreters of the slaughtered cows and burning flames will endanger lives of residents.

“ThankGod we have a  market in front of Creek Road and there is no type of meat that is not sold there.

And if anybody wants to open a cow slaughter market there are designated sites within the residents of a place. We are not against the operator neither the consultants, but the site is a living environment, let them look for a place outside living premises. We also have a large area across the late Chief Ngeri Roland community, they can approach the owners of the place and operate the market there. Our  interest is for public safety and nothing more other interest, Tobin said. ###
