Keshi, Eagles Still Needs A Striker

The Super Eagles on Saturday 23rd March, 2013 played under pressure to draw with Harambe Stars, the Kenya national team. It was a match the Super Eagles struggled to find its feat as new Africa soccer champions.

The time of preparation may be short to have put a formidable squad to face the Harambees stars but that was a team that just won the 29th Africa Nations Cup that would have given Keshi some respite to field only tested players whose confidence is guaranteed to feature for the Eagles, than trying to experiment with new players.

If a new player should be invited to the Eagles team, it would be a player that is prolific in scoring goals. Again, the likes of Obafemi Martins should be properly used as the midfield did not  understand Obafemi’s style of play.

Obafemi Martins is a fast pace playing player, if Keshi had used him, he would have had a formation and the possible players that could have played along with him to get the best pursuit. Because Obafemi Martins is a prolific goal scorer when playing with the right players who understand his style.

When playing Obafemi Martins, he should be given the ball on time to do his bit to score, not the type of ball Mikel Obi kept sending to him on air. Martins is  short, but a fast pacing player, playing against the taller Harambee Stars defenders is difficult, hence those balls given to Martins could have been put on ground.###
