Rivers Police Inaugurates PCRC Executive Okporo Division…As Chairman Promise Transparency

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Executive of Okporo Division in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has been inaugurated.  The ceremony took place at the Divisional Police Office at Okporo Road, Port Harcourt on 14th March, 2013.

Performing the ceremony, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge, SP Tajudeen Ogunlaja charged the new executive to work as a team.

The DPO told the PCRC Executive members to work hard with honour, dignity, and courage to serve the public, stating that God will reward them.

SP Ogunlaja reminded them that since their job is not paid for, they are expected to assist the Police in the area of crime prevention, peace and stability in their various communities.

The DPO used the occasion to thank PCRC members for a peaceful conduct of election that brought the Executive on board and charged them to serve with integrity.  The DPO who quoted from the Holy Bible, the Book of 1Samuel 12:1-4 and 2King 12:15 told the new Executive to put the PCRC on the right track and should improve on all areas to better the lot of the citizens.

In his inaugural speech, the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee PCRC Okporo Division, Mr. Ijeoma Nkem expressed gratitude to the out going Executive and all the members, especially on the conduct of a peaceful and free election in the State.

Mr. Ijeoma used the opportunity to apologize for any misdeed or mistake done by the past Executive and called for a rebirth to improve on all the good record of the Executive.  He stated that as servants they are aware of criticism, but advised that such should be constructive to assist them change.

The newly elected Chairman stated that it will not be business as usual because there will be a lot of innovations and all hands should be on deck.

The Chairman commended the DPO for working with them to achieve the desire result and prayed God to assist the DPO in his new posting.  The Chairman appealed for cooperation of all to serve humanity by strengthening their neighborhood to eradicate the activities of hoodlums.

Mr. Ijeoma promised proper accounting system during his tenure and tasked members to be economically productive to be able to contribute meaningful to PCRC.

In his speech, the State Chairman of PCRC Mr. Austin Young represented by Hon. Sunday Wobi Wordi charged the Division to increase the number of Women in the Division.

Mr. Young said he was happy with the activities of the Okporo Division because things have changed for the better.  He advised the new Executive to open an account for proper financial management within the Division.

The Representative suggested that the Chairman and his team should pay a visit to the Paramount Ruler within their jurisdiction to intimate him on their activities.  He tasked members to host meeting when necessary and warned against truancy during meeting.

Other contributors on the positive way forward were Chief Lazarus Amadi, Chief Mams Elewa, and Mr. Innocent Jacob.
