High Chief Blames PDP Crisis On Godfatherism

A prominent Chief in Degema LGA High Chief (Dr.) A. Omubo, head Chief in Obuama Harry’s town said the monster behind the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is caused by Godfatherism in the system.
The Peoples Democratic Party since its advent as the ruling party of Nigeria in 1999 had witnessed one problem or the other.
In the latest squabble between the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, 27 governors in the federation and National Working Committee (NWC), Tukur is accused of high handedness, distrust and keeping malice with members of NWC.
The crisis worsened when the ten working NWC held meeting without the knowledge of Alhaji Tukur, annulling the recent conducted congress at Adamawa State which the national chairman sees as betrayal, the governors on the other hand called for Bamanga Tukur’s resignation, these has deepened the crises in PDP.
In a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, High Chief A. Omubo said unless the Peoples Democratic Party stops putting wrong people in position without considering the choice of the electorate, crises will not cease in the nation.
“When you put them in power they will ensure that they retain the power, even after their tenure they put their people who may not be qualified for the position, but there are people that are more qualified than them, they sideline such persons and put their people in the name of godfatherism.
The high Chief noted that Nigeria is rated as a third world underdeveloped nation instead of being among the first or second because the elected leaders used most of the fund meant for the development of the country to give to their godfathers for personal reasons and enriched themselves also, hence the nation is rated underdeveloped.
He contended that until PDP purges itself and think about how to put the right persons in positions democratically, the crises will continue to exist.
The high chief of Obuama noted that Goodluck Jonathan’s coming into politics as the president of the nation is for the liberation of godfatherism which was why we have fuel subsidy reinvestment that have improved the lives of the people of the country.
He further disclosed that the federal government’s assurance of improvement on power has been achieve and urged Nigerians to be patient with the present administration, expressing optimism that Jonathan would do them one after the other before the end of his tenure. ###
