Sharks In Sign-on-Fee ‘Wahala’ Over Abdou Sagna

Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt, sponsored by the Rivers State Government is in sign-on-fee ‘Wahala’ over a Senegalese International footballer Abdou Sagna who played for the last Nigeria Premier League football season.
The ugly situation came to the public glare when Sharks management dropped him in the current football season.
Abdou Sagna played for Sharks football Club for a full football season in the last Nigeria Premier League season. He was signed on to Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt from his former club Carton Sport Football Club of Senegal, his own country.
In an interview with sports journalists at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia during the unveiling of Guinness biggest jersey in support of the Nigeria Super Eagles, the player who revealed that he played a full football season for Sharks football club of Port Harcourt, only to be dropped by the club’s management for the forthcoming Nigeria Premier League, he said he expects that the Sports Ministry would pay him his sign-on-fee.
“Since I entered Nigeria, I have not received anything from the club owners. I always trek to the stadium to train for me to shape up my form, but now I am urging and pleading with the ministry to please pay me my money so that I will be happy to go back and play in my country, Senegal. Because for over six months I have not been happy”.
Reacting to Sagna’s claim, General Manager (GM) of Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt, Okey Kpaluko while addressing Sports journalist at liberation Stadium said that “Abdou Sagna had a full football season with us and he was paid and the second we dropped him, and he requested for his ticket back to his country, we gave him, we do not pay sign-on-fees together with all the players that were recruited for a particular season up to 100 percent as usual”.
The Sharks GM however, maintained that whenever sign-on-fees are ready for all the players, he will be called, but if he feels the club is owing him and he is hoping to get his money before others, Abdou Sagna should write us, so that we can discuss with him officially and not for him to be harassing us on the road publicly in a rude manner”.###
