RSUST Lecturers Are Back To Classroom

After the impasse the Rivers University of Science and Technology (RSUST) lecturers are said to have gone back to the classroom.
The lecturers of that institution declared strike last year due to the reappointment Prof. B.B. Fakae as the Vice Chancellor of the institution by the visitor of the University and Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi.
The Newswriter gathered that as the issue of RSUST lingers, the efforts of stakeholders to bring normalcy to the Premier Science and Technology higher institution established by the state government, under the administration of Late Senator Melford Obiene Okilo, which never see the light of the day.
Though, the school authority gave the impression to the public that there is no problem at all in the institution, that there was this faction of lecturers under the ASUU guise that have never seen anything good in the Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.B. Fakae despite impressive development brought to the school by Fakae, hence the faction intents to draw the institution to a standstill. So they tried to convince the rest of the lecturers to go on strike as this is the only means to hold the institution to ransom.
Like a fight of who is in charge, the school authority went on to conduct its second semester exams which was said to be successful. The school is back from holiday, and has started lectures for the beginning of the 2013 first semester.
A call put through the chairman of ASUU, Dr. Felix Igwe to speak on the current development, could not yield result as h was heading to Calabar for a meeting.
On his part, Prof. Barineme Fakae said, RSUST has no problem at all, it was only few lecturers who are trying to parade themselves as ASUU members so as to gain cheat said to be popularity.
He was emphatic that RSUST is back on track and is doing well. “You can see we have just resumed for the first semester after a successful second semester examination” and lectures are going on fine, lecturers are around doing their business of lecturing of which they are paid for”.
The controversy generated by the few striking lecturers was brought to bear when the State Chief Executive asked them to go to court over his reappointment of Prof. Fakae as Vice Chancellor of RSUST, adding that he will be operating on no work no pay.
As of the time of filing in this report, Rivers State University of Science and Technology is bubbling, as students were seen attending their classes. ####
