Rivers State Accountant General Celebrates With Widows On His Birthday

The Rivers State Accountant General (AG), Sir Ngozi Abu on January 1st 2013 at his country-home, Ihuama in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, celebrated his birthday with the widows and the down-trodden in the community, where he distributed bags of rice, wrappers tins of vegetable oil and cash, to the widows and some that the society has forgotten, saying, “they should have hope, so long as they are living”.

Sir Abu also used the occasion to thank God, for using Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to appoint him as the Accountant General of the state.
The A.G stated that he decided to use his birthday occasion to put smiles on the poor, as a way to appreciate what God has done for him and his family.
Also speaking at the occasion, the wife of the celebrant, Dame (Mrs.) Abu, noted that the family decided to use her husband’s birthday to assist the poor and those that the society has forgotten in appreciation for the blessings of God upon the family.
She advised the widows to be patient, also look upon God for their needs and be contented with “whatever condition they find themselves in life.
In his sermon, during the thanksgiving service at St. Luke’s Anglican Church Ihuama, Ahoada, the Vicar in charge of the Parish, Rev, G. I. Agwana, admonished the rich and the wealthy in the society to always use part of their wealth and possessions to alleviate the sufferings of the poor to the glory of God, saying, “one of the reasons, God positioned the rich in the midst of the poor, is for the rich to assist the poor in life”.
According to him, the days God threw manna from Heaven was over; hence, God positioned the rich as manna to feed the poor.
The Vicar noted that the Anglican Communion would always identify and partner with those God have blessed extraordinarily and are ready to be a blessing to others in their environment. He described Sir Abu as a “blessing to the community”. ###
