Kelechi Rewards Winners In Omuma Talent Soccer

The House Committee Chairman on Sports in the Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Omuma constituency, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu has revealed that he is working towards having a competition for talents in tennis, basketball and other annual football competitions he has just concluded on the 1st of January at Omuma.
Hon. Nwogu made this revelation in an interview with The Newswriter, shortly after he doled out cash prizes in reward of players and coaches who won the constituency soccer competition in his office.
According to him, as chairman of sports house committee in the Rivers State House of Assembly, he is working assiduously to see that Omuma sons and daughters play football at the national level as seeing his kinsmen fairing well in other sports in all sporting events in the country. He promised that any Omuma son and daughter that is prepared to venture into sports as a career; he will do his best to encourage such person to limelight.
Ward 8 won the first edition of the competition. Second and third places were won by ward 1 and ward 10 respectively. Ofeh Queens FC, Ebere Angels FC and Ajiloke Babes FC won the female edition respectively in that order.
Best behaved team, best goalkeeper, best behaved team, topscorer chamberlain for the male, favour for the female, Benjamin Mandhabuchy as best player was awarded 50,000 cash same as other players like Izuchi Siguzo.
Hon. Kelechi Nwogu disclosed that this year’s competition will start early. He used the medium to commend the players and asked them to prepare against this year’s competition. To that effect, he said the Ebere football pitch would be worked upon to standard for that purpose.
Revealing that for that purpose he had contacted super sports, saying “I will not enjoy my tenure without seeing Omuma sons and daughters play at the national level. ###
