Robbers Invade Everyday Emporium …Kill Employee And Police Corporal

Armed robbers, on Monday October 31, 2011, ambushed a vehicle conveying, on a regular routine, an undisclosed amount of cash belonging to Everyday Emporium, a popular Supermarket along Rumuola, Port Harcourt.
The staff of Everyday Emporium were escorting the large sum of money to Everyday Supermarket, at GRA, when the robbers struck leaving in their trail, a staff of the company and a police corporal in the escort van, dead.
Two other policemen in the escort were seriously wounded and undergoing treatment.
The incident occurred at Omerelu Street, behind Rumuola junction.
They were ambushed by the armed hoodlums who fired several shots into both vehicles resulting to the death of one staff of the supermarket and the policeman.
The police escorts were from the Operation Department of the Police Force.
Several police patrol teams including SOS, SARS, are making serious efforts to trace and arrest the culprits and to recover the loot, said the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Rivers command, Ben Ugwuegbulam.
In another development, Sowari Finebone, a 47-year-old man, has been arraigned before Senior Magistrate, Mrs. Helen Harry of Court 10, for alleged impersonation.
He allegedly, on October 8, 2011 at NNS Pathfinder Port Harcourt, not being a person serving in the Nigerian Navy, did wear Nigeria Navy Uniform, thereby committing an offence punishable under section 109 (a) of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.
According to charge number PMC/1991c/11, the accused on false pretence, and with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N665, 000 from one Mebom Noble, with the pretence of supplying Diesel (AGO) and food items to a shop, a representation he knew to be false.
Sowari Finebone was also accused of being in possession of Nigerian Navy Web belt and pull over.
He was arraigned on October 31, 2011. Bail was granted with the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties one of whom must be a civil servant in the state, with two passports each, while the case has been adjourned till November 22, 2011. ###
