PHCN Business Manager Appeals For Debt Clearance

The Business Manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Engineer Festus A. Nmegbu, has appealed to customers in Port Harcourt metropolis to pay off their bills.
He made the appeal while speaking with our correspondent on Wednesday in his office.
According to him, PHCN pledged to give the best of service to consumers of electricity if only those indebted to the company could clear their debts at the end of each month, promptly.
He said the high rate of indebtedness of consumers is regrettable as it is affecting the company’s production of power to consumers.
The charismatic business manager of PHCN, Diobu business unit, stressed that if consumers are happy with the recent power supply in Port Harcourt metropolis, ii should be regarded as the tip of the iceberg as they are prepared to serve regular electricity supply to consumers, but noted that, that could only happen when the consumers cooperate with the company by paying their bill as at when due, regularly each month.
He pointed out that huge sum of money was committed into maintenance to effect a positive increase in power supply to consumers, disclosing that the company is on target to finish the maintenance and increase supply effectively.
The manager added that if consumers fail to pay their bills, it would work against the progress of smooth translation of electricity supply to consumers.
He specially appealed to the MD and R3 consumers to clear their bills as power supply has reasonably been increased for all consumers of electricity to enjoy.
As the Business Manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Diobu business unit appealed for consumers of electricity in Port Harcourt to settle their bill, our correspondent saw some customers responding in paying their bills at the Diobu business unit, and encountered them in a chat. They spoke with our correspondent.
Mr. Arinze Ahamefule, residing at No. 2 Echue Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, said, ‘well, the power supply has increased, it is better than before, but I still want them to improve on it. I also want them to sustain the current supply of power.
Asked whether he noticed that the billing rate has also been increased he responded by saying if they can sustain the rate of power supply constantly, he will not complain, but is only when the power supply is not regular that he is going to complain.
Another customer our correspondent saw paying her bill at the office was Miss Tina Okorie, who lives at No. 19 Odinze street, mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt. This is how she responded; ‘actually power Holding company has improved, they should keep it up.
To Tina, the rate has reduced while others are complaining that the rate has slightly been increased as the supply increased.
Mr. Hope S. Abali, resides at No. 15 Soku Street, mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt responded with these words; ‘the situation has really improved. They should not retrogress from the current electricity supply to consumers. He said he will only complain when there is no regular supply despite the fact that they have increased the billing rate.
Another customer who would not want his name appear in print, said he lives at Osagie street in D/line. Responding, he opined that the situation has improved and urged Power Holding to improve further. ####
