The immediate past vice president of Port Harcourt club 1928, Sylvester Ueomoh, has emerged president of Port Harcourt club 1928. He defeated four other contesters for the prestigious number one position of the club.
Chief Diamond Tobin West, Chief Ikenna Okafor and Princewill, were all beaten by Sylvester Ueomoh to emerge victory as president of Port Harcourt club 1928.
The keenly contested election was the hottest the Port Harcourt club 1928 election ever conducted. Worthy of note was the attitude of sportsmanship demonstrated by all aspirants during the election, as they were seen joking together while the election was going on.
The following persons were elected into the management committee of the club: Tonye Quarkers Azike who scored a total vote of 332 to be become first elected member of Port Harcourt club 1928 management committee, Unwana Ebong Ekong scored 310, Olakunle Ernest Maku, 291, Ephraim B. Pepple scored 284, Martins N. Okaye scored 266, Princewill I. Tobin scored 265 and Tunde Jackson scored 261 in that order.
With this result, the new Port Harcourt club 1928 new cabinet has now Sylvester Ueomoh, president, Chief Chris Okonkwo, Soiye Lilly Tariah, Secretary General who scored 269 votes against his opponent, Finecountry Ebenezer who scored 207, Sir John Dave is now the new Treasurer of the club.
In handing over to the incoming cabinet, the outgoing president of the club, Barrister Golden Tamuno said he made a promise of conducting the freest election in his administration. He said he had actualized it. Urging the members to give the cooperation the new cabinet deserve. He stated that the new cabinet success would come from the support and level of cooperation given to them.
He also said he was optimistic that the new cabinet would take the club to a greater height given the right atmosphere by the entire member of Port Harcourt club 1928.
He promised to commence inauguration next week, saying that as they are one family, they would continue to work together, adding that all promises made by him must be fulfilled, and there will be no abandoned projects in his administration. With these words, he moved into action, evacuating the elders of the club to a more better place within the club premises.
He commended the electoral committee who took pain to give the club a free and fair election. The committee was constituted with Dr. T.S.T Toby Chairman, Barr. Omubo Frank-Briggs secretary, Ifeanye Asemole, Barr. Karibi George, Stanley Odum and Hon. T. LongJohn, all members. #
