Mr. Tonye Azike is a committed and dedicated member of Port Harcourt Club of 1928 who has to be ………….. of both Lawn Tennis and table tennis section and aspirant contesting for the post of management committee member of the club, in the forthcoming election.
Mr. Azike made this revelation while speaking to this publication on the reason, why he wants to be elected as a committee member. He stated that the anomalies existing in the club will be corrected.
According to Mr. Azike the members of the club are complaining about the poor state of the club, lack of welfare for the members, and club diverting from the original intention, which is sports, more social. He promised to improve the situation if given the opportunity.
He also stated that the sports angle of the club will be his priority even though he is not the president, but promised to use his experience as maintenance officer, lawn tennis section, treasurer and currently the chairman of the finance committee of tennis section to work with the president in any department they will assign him since they don’t vie for any specific office.
On the issue of the current management, Mr. Azike said that they are not bad, they had contributed to the best of their ability, but if the opportunity is given to them, they will do better. ###
