Flood Victims Need More Attention – Apostle Eugene Ogu

The General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Ministries (ALEM), Apostle Eugene Ogu has accessed the plight of flood victims and his aid to them, stressing that the people need more support for them to survive.
The man of God said unless this is done the flood victims stand the risk of death by disease and hunger.
He spoke to newsmen at ALEM premises on Wednesday October 24, 2012 and called on multi-national companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), philanthropists, government at all levels and pastors to intensify efforts to better the condition of this people at this time of their trivail.
Ogu raised alarm about the poor condition of accommodation and environmental living of the people, saying that unless support are made available this people are going to die.
He decried the levity in handling the flood victims by the federal government, saying that it is not enough for Mr. President to visit Bayelsa and drop some bags of rice and go believing that the people have been taken care of, but that he should visit every camp, and know the level of need required by the people.
He confessed from his experience in the field that most of the relief materials sent to the victims do not reach them as those assigned the responsibility to share these materials divert them to their people and sell some for money.
As at the time, we met him, the man of God said he has just come back from Oguta camp where he shared relief materials.
Apostle Ogu in company of his NGO (Arms of Hope) were heading to Omoku with 2 lorries load of rice, garri, among other materials.
According to him, he got the news of how flood took over the country from abroad and he flew in and started to package materials in the fold of his NGO, “Arms of Hope” and made ways to Ahoada where he met terrible situations, people were starved as the whole camp of thousands were banking on only 2 pots for cooking and they bought food for pregnant women, nursing mothers and women who gave birth to twin in the camp and shared relief materials.
After Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas, they went to Yenagoa where they shared mostly mattresses as they discovered that food was already on ground.
He emphasized that they are going with 10 man medical team whom they will station at the camp at Omoku to take care of the healthy conditions of the people.
Ogu used the medium to call on his fellow pastors, to see to the aid of these people and advised wives of governors of flooded states to take over flood victims as pet projects, making sure they alleviate their critical condition for this is why their husbands were elected. ###
