Tonye Harry Inspires Legislators to Victory Over ALGON

Thursday 18th of October saw the former speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Hon. Tonye Ezekiel Harry, inspiring the legislative first Eleven football team against the Rivers State All local government chairmen, Hon. Ngofa Oji led ALGON first eleven to victory in a novelty match at the Sharks Football Stadium, 2-1.
The friendly football match was organized to mark the legislators’ hall of fame red carpet event, put together by Vox and coordinated by Hon. Onari Brown, Rivers State House of Assembly, chairman of House committee on information.
No one in particular knew that Hon. Tonye Harry, the former speaker of the Rivers State House is a goal tender till the friendly novelty match, gathered momentum. If not by the saves made by Hon. Tonye Ezekiel Harry the Rivers State legislators would have been singing a sad song on that day, as he saved all goals bound moves made by the ALGON side.
The legislators parading potential strike force inspired by Hon. Kelechi Godspower Nwogu, House of Assembly complemented by Hon. Aye Atamah Pepple looked good to torment the Hon. Oji Ngofa of Eleme local government captained ALGON side.
It was Aye Atamah Pepple who got a goal first in the first half of the match for his side and increased the goal tally to 2 while the ALGON side pulled back a goal to read 2-1. It was a day Hon. Kelechi Godspower Nwogu, Hon Aye Atamah Pepple, Hon. Tonye Harry and Hon. Oji Ngofa showed class as former footballers in their active school days, as both legislators played the football of their lives as if they are playing world cup, thereby exhibiting high class of dexterity on the ball to entertain their fans.
It was Kelechi and Atamah Pepple that in all stole the hearts of the fans as if they are still playing active football.
The man who was most appreciated throughout the match was the immediate past speaker, Hon. Tonye Harry as he unfolded his keeping skills on that day as if he was still in his secondary school days, when he was at it best. He was unanimously crowned the man of the match by a team of sports journalists who watched the epic historic display of these legislators in the football field.
Speaking to sports journalists shortly after the match Hon. Tonye Ezekiel Harry disclosed that he was a good goalkeeper in his secondary school days, that he even played league matches here in Port Harcourt.
Speaking further, he revealed that since the skill is inbuilt it comes out naturally when the occasion arises, saying that is what the spectators witness on that wonderful Thursday. He was voted man of the match for his spectacular display of goal keeping skills. ####
