Suspicion And Curiosity Surround Ex-Agitator’s Death

The mystery surrounding the death of One Faye (a.k.a Nationale) has continued to generate both curiosity and bewilderment amongst the ex-militant’s relations, friends and associates, some of who insist that his death might not be unconnected with an amount of money allegedly meant for militants and which he had collected from a new generation bank, the very morning he met his untimely death in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile as this suspicion is going on, some ex-militants who were supposed to have benefited from the said amount of money that led to Faye’s death, stormed the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) a fortnight ago in anger.
Though the ex-militants who stormed the headquarters of NDDC did not categorically state that it was due to the killing of the said Faye, but they claimed that they fought for the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission pointing out that they have been receiving welfare treatment as it has become difficult to collect their amnesty stipends for quite sometime now.
The group led by one Stephen Abesite, a supposed National Coordinator of the ex-militants, stressed that what was due for them had been withheld over a period of time. They thus demanded other fringe-benefits which they thought would have been part of the privileges due them consequent upon the surrender of their arms.
However, Honour Sirawoo, representing the youths department in NDDC mentioned that the organization has been doing its best in terms of ex-militants welfare.
Meanwhile, few among the ex-militants said they would get to the root of Faye’s assassination who was killed when he allegedly received N120 million from one of the new generation banks meant for the payment of contractual staff in NDDC.
But rumours making the rounds had it that the cash that led to his death was only N60 million purported to be for payment to ex-militants in the NDDC’s budget.
This medium gathered that on the very day Faye and his driver were allegedly gunned down by armed robbers, some amnesty boys who heard the news alluded to the issue of the N120 million meant for their welfare.
In the meantime, the rumour has continued to make the rounds that Faye’s killing has a lot to do with the said money as fellow ex-militants who have been receiving peanuts and have not been used to luxury life after years of showing maximum loyalty to the amnesty programme, may have been angered to the extent of taking arms so as to enjoy a bit of bliss.
An unconfirmed source stated to this medium that the killers could also be disciples just as Jesus Christ was denied and killed.
The Newswriter sources expressly gathered that the said victim whose full name was Fayeofari George hailed from Abonnema Town in Akuku Toru LGA and that he had a good handwork but following the struggle for the Niger Delta cause, had to join forces with the militants. ###
