The President of Council of Ogoni Churches (COC), Sir Mike Ibira has asked for extension of time for the Ogoni Self Government Transition Committee.
Sir Ibira who heads the Committee said three more weeks are required to complete the Committee’s assignment and to finalize the preparation of an official report.
He spoke on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at a joint session of Ogoni Central Indigenous Authority (OCIA) sitting in Teyork at the Ogoni National Territory and the joint session granted the 3-week extension.
OCIA was established to enforce the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
