COURTESY VISIT BY RENAISSANCE PEACE AND AIDES INITIATIVE on September 4, 2012, TO THE ACTING CHAIRMAN OF OKRIKA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, HON. DR. GODKNOWS TAM GEORGE, FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACE IN OKRIKA AND NIGER DELTA STATES

First and foremost I want to appreciate God for what he has done for us as a council. I came in here on the orders of the Executive Council and Executive Governor of Rivers State, Our boss, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. And then when I came of course, there was chaos in the system where the Legislative Arm does not agree with the Executive arm and the Legislative arm was divided, sharply divided, two leadership one side saying he is the leader the other also saying he is the leader of the Council, that kind of situation and within the system there are lot of things that I feel was not very correct, very right which needed to be right or corrected.
Somehow, I found out that there is a spiritual connotation to what is happening in the Council in as much as there is also the physical aspect because of course that is my believe there is nothing that happens in the physical that does not have spiritual involvement, something that happens in the physical must always take place in the spiritual before it comes to the physical manifestation. That is my belief whether am correct or not any body can disprove it, I do not mind but that is the way, I believe and so the first step I took is to see how to solve the spiritual aspect so that as soon as we are able to resolve on that definitely, the physical aspect will be taken. care of and I told the people when I came here to give them God and to make God the head of the Council because I strongly believe that there is something beyond human comprehension that has been tearing the council which needs to be broken spiritually.
Beautiful idea, you all know that there is a time in history that the entire State was thrown into confusion, there was no peace per say and then with the coming of the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi there was peace in Rivers State.
Gone are the days you know in Nigeria we have short memory am sorry to say. You cannot be holding your phones and working in the streets of Port Harcourt a boy will just come after you make your call and say hey, I need that phone there is nothing you can do, helplessly you will give to him.
So here we are today people have forgotten those things, so but there was robbery every where, so when he came, it takes a man that loves his country to stay and do what he did for Rivers State it takes a God sent man, that is a man that has the fear of God to do what he did and he took drastic step, to ensure that peace returns back to Rivers State and I can tell you there is peace in Niger Delta. As far as am concerned, the Executive Governor of Rivers State is the architect of the peace in the Niger Delta no doubt about it, nobody can fault it, he took the initiative to bring peace to this State and in general the Niger Delta. We are talking about today but for his actions I do not think that we would have been having the relative peace that we have today. It is very glaring today people go about their normal businesses, companies have left Port Harcourt because there was no peace now many of them are coming back today, you are aware that LNG their head office is now in Port Harcourt.
Fantastic so for young men and women to come together and say we want to carry out a peace plan or a peace move or a to sensitize the people to tell them there is need for peace, what we need now is sustainable peace that’s the way I look at it sustainable peace where people can come together to say okay now that we have peace how do we sustain it? Just give a kind of retroactive view of what was before and what is now and what will be tomorrow, that is what we need and if youths like you start to think about that, fine, beautiful.
I as a servant of the people will partake in it. Let me tell you, there is an international seminar cum conference that is about to take place in Rivers State, we are arranging that. That is how to bring about sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta, that is what we need, we need to sustain this tempo of peace we have, because if we do not sustain it, there is likelihood that we can miss it, but God forbid, we will not miss it because we have an able Governor that believes in the peace and development of Rivers State, and so in every nook and cranny what you guys only need to do is be embedded between the conference of Okrika Local Government I guess, or the term Niger Delta.
You guys should go ahead we will support you where you want and you need our support, preach to the people what we need is real peace not just the peace but sustainable peace. WHAT WE NEED NOW I MUST CONFESS IS SUSTAINABLE PEACE. We have peace already, now but we need to sustain that peace we have, if we want to move forward very simple. Please, I said earlier what we need is sustainable peace, we have peace already, I want to employ every youth, you know the Bible says “remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth”, you know when you are a youth, you are very energetic and that is the time God wants you to use your energy, channel your energy to good things, youths of Niger Delta.
My advise to the youths is please, channel your energy to something that will bring about sustainable peace in the Niger Delta, Refrain from all activities that do not go down well with the laws of our society.
Please Niger Delta is one of the best regions in the entire world, is where God has embedded the best of resources. that is sustaining the country so we cannot afford to toil with it, there lies our future there lies the future of our children today, we are youths, tomorrow we will be adults so youth continue so remember that what we do today will affect our generations even yet unborn because tomorrow we will become adults and we will no longer be youths and so the legacy we need to live will determine the kind of peace we will pass onto our own children so am advising the Niger Delta youths please, make God our foundation, there is nothing God cannot do for us, the Bible say “if my people that are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and forsake their evil ways and seek my face, I the Lord will hear from heaven and heal their Lands”:.
I believe that if we seek God, if we make God our foundation, today we are proud because we have a Niger Delta son as a president of this country it has never happened before. If not for the prayers of the saints in this region, if not for people that has come together and sought the face of God, I do not think that God would have given us that opportunity and now that we have it in our hands, let us not use our energy to destroy what God has given to us.
We are one nation called Nigeria no matter anything let us keep faith that some how, Niger Delta is not at the pealing of affairs of this country and so no matter anything, we should sacrifice everything for peace knowing that our father, our Brother our son is there we should sacrifice everything to maintain and sustain this region and I believe when we make God, put God first in all our activities as youths I bet you, God will forever make a way for us, what we need now more, is ideas.
And those are the kind of youths we want, youths with ideas, create ideas, innovation, ideas that will change things for us no man can change it except the one that has the fear of God, except the one that has ideas. It is men of ideas that rule this world, youths of Niger Delta. My advise is go for ideas, innovations, read your books, make researches if you want, this region needs to move forward, Niger Delta must move forward, we must move forward and how do we move forward is when we come together as one, one nation, one region under God and that is what will make us to move forward.
We are so proud I can go on and on to name them both dead and alive we have the Okilo’s, we have the Isaac Boro, the Ada Judge, the Peter Odili. I can go on and on to name them, Denis Feberesima’s the commissioner our current Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, our Role Model look at what he has done within a short period because of his love for his Gods own State. When we have such people I mean those are the kind of people our youths should be looking up to, why not; am looking forward to the day the youths of Niger Delta will come together and say we are celebrating both the living and the dead, in fact its better to celebrate those that are alive now and let them see that the young men has come together to celebrate them so that before they live this earth they will be proud that they have done something, they have left a legacy not when they are dead, a dead man knows nothing even if you celebrate the dead when you are dead you know nothing, so its better for you.
We the youths, let us live to celebrate our heroes, our mentors, those we look up to now that they are alive so that before they live they know that yes people have actually recognized their contributions to community and to the region, not when they are dead, a dead man does not.
Renaissance has stolen the media, you have stolen the internet, Renaissance is everywhere, sometimes the way the solidatory shown is unbeatable. I tell you the truth because whenever things happen you will see Renaissance identifying with the person, be it appointment, be it loss of loved ones, be it any good thing, you have identified with all I want to use this medium to specialty congratulate renaissance for what you are doing, you may not know what you are doing now but time will come when men will begin to say who are these young men where are they from? Where did they come from? God will bless Renaissance, the sky will not be your limit Rather you will excel.

End.
The president of Renaissance, Mr. Kelvin L Ibanichuka said to the Acting Chairman that’ Renaissance will take it upon themselves as an NGO to relate to the youths on what he has said, particularly that the youths should emulate our role models because they have left us a good legacy that will help bring sustainable peace and development in Niger Delta.
He also stated that a Peace Campaign would take place from September 21 to October 31, 2012, beginning from PortHarcourt, in all the states of the Niger Delta.
