Chief Allwell Igbor, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman CTC, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, has described his late mother, Mrs. Lydiah Walez Okachi Igbor, as a benevolent woman who took the problem of other people upon herself.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony of his late mother at Ibaa in Emohua LGA last week Saturday, July 14, 2012, Chief Igbor noted that his late mother who died at the age of 82, was a good woman who took care of people’s welfare but was always rewarded with bad, adding that she was behind his success.
According to him, “My mother encouraged me to go to Lagos in 1981 and advised me to live a good life which made me to succeed today.”
Chief Igbor assured that he will emulate his mother’s virtuous life and even do more than her.
The chief mourner who read his late mothers biography disclosed that his mother hailed from Omueche Omukpoba village Ibaa Emohua LGA but could not have the privilege of going to school as she lost her parents at a tender age, but was able to train her children to any level of their educational pursuit, adding that the fruit of the womb was her major problem when she married her first husband, late Mr. Ogiri Owhor. She lost all her first three children which made her to attempt committing suicide by hanging herself in the farm, but was rescued by Mr. Ohu Abiyan, Wajim and others.
As a result, he said, she broke up her first marriage and remarried late chief Oha Allen Okachi Igbor of Omuchiolu village, Ibaa, as the fourth wife and was blessed with eight children, with five still alive.
Chief Igbor who is also the chief executive officer of Divine Gas Plant of Ibaa International Nigeria Limited, described his late mother as a devoted Christian, an industrious woman who specialized in farming and trading, the first woman to purchase lady’s machine in her town, Ibaa in 1982.
In his sermon during the church service at Holy Trinity Anglican church Ibaa, Rev. Fortune Okechukwu noted that death is an individual appointment which all mortals must keep while on earth, stressing that there must be judgment after death. He urged every individual on earth to live a good life and leave a legacy he or she will be remember for.
He enjoined people to contribute to the society, help one another so as to be remembered.
In a separate interview with the PDP chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. Vincent Uchendu and Hon. Dr. Kennedy Ebeku, former lawmaker representing Ahoada East constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, who came to sympathize with their colleague Chief Allwell Igbor, thanked God for keeping him alive to bury his mother successfully.
They described the deceased as a good woman who has contributed to the society, attributing the presence of several people at the burial ceremony to her benevolence to the people and enjoined other people in the society to emulate her so as to be remembered. ###
