Following the near breach of peace by some councilors and hired thugs over the suspension of Hon. Golden Ikpuku as leader for misappropriation and misapplication of funds and the subsequent nomination of Hon. Zachariah Loveday as Leader, Pro-tempore, the chairman of Okrika local government council, Barr. Tamuno Williams, has reacted to the ugly incidence after a security meeting with the DPO, Okrika, Director SSS, Okrika, an official of the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State and other security agencies in his office.
Tamuno Williams lamented that the incident was a show of shame as a cabal has been fingered to be behind these councilors and hired thugs who perpetrated the act that led to the thorough beating of Hon. Zachariah Loveday, leader, Pro-tempore, Hon. Sobere Moses, Hon. Agnes Atelibo and two other councilors to stupor.
He added that a cabal has been pressurizing him to share the common wealth of the Okrika people which he had refused and will not give in to their devilish manipulations and machinations against Okrikans
The Chairman emphasized that, since he had refused to share the common wealth of the people, the intention of the cabal is to create confusion and mayhem in order to install an illiterate and a near fool that would be tele-guided and manipulated to dry the allocation accruing to the LGA.
He assured that he will work under due process to make sure the matter is resolved and brought under control.
He said that a three-man executive committee has been set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the near breach of peace and security in the council.
Tamuno Williams stated that the committee will ensure the investigation of the roles played by various individuals and recommend appropriate sanctions on those found culpable.
Walga Boss assured that directives have been given for the screening and proper identification of any one coming into the council.
Tamuno Williams warned mischief makers and those who will want to use this period to perpetrate evil on the good people of Okrika that security agents have been put on red alert to deal ruthlessly with anyone found breaching the peace and security in the area.
He enjoined the peace loving people of Okrika to remain calm and resolute as light will triumph over darkness at the end of the day. ###
