Staff Of Asari-toru LGA Called Upon To Work Harmoniously With The Council Chairman

Staff of Asari-Toru Local Government have been called upon to work in harmony with the Council Chairman to develop the area.

This call was made at Buguma, Headquarters of the Local Government by a commissioner in the State Local Government Service Commission, Engr. Kington Jaja, while addressing the staff as part of the Commission’s tour to Councils in the State.

Engineer Jaja who stood in for Chairman of the Commission, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini JP, stressed the need for co-operation between the political head and the workforce in order to maintain peaceful co-existence in the Council.

The Commissioner assured the staff that the commission would always protect and promote their welfare provided they play their part by coming to work regularly.

He charged the principal staff of the Council to show good example to staff working under them and advised them to take effective control of the workforce.

Also speaking, the Commissioner in charge of the Council in the Commission, Chief Allen Mbadiwe Ewoh, JP, challenged the staff to think of what to do to improve the level of development by providing useful suggestions to the Chairman.

Chief Ewoh told the staff that the era of staff not coming to work and receiving salary was over, as the Commission would apply “no work no pay” system.

And in his speech, a commissioner in the Commission, Barrister Paul Awoyesuku, advised the staff to be patient with the Council Chairman to address their welfare problems and that staff matters are on going that needed time to solve.

The Council Chairman, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree said that the Council had done a lot to improve staff welfare and assured that he was prepared to do more if staff are committed to their duty.

Mr. Amachree then advised the workforce to avoid making false claims and unnecessary demands, saying that the fund for the council was not only for workers but to develop the entire Local Government also and that he would continue to work to make workers to be comfortable.

Earlier in his welcome address the Head of Local Government Administration in the Council, Mr. Daniel Isegboma said that the Council was making frantic efforts to clear the arrears of junior and senior staff promotion and the 70 percent salary adjustment.

Mr. Isegboma said that salaries are paid regularly except the junior staff salaries which were delayed by the United Bank for Africa (USA) and that the problem had been resolved. He called on the Commission to conclude the last promotion exercise for Senior staff started by the last Commission. ###
