Amaechi Set To Create Platform For Soccer Talents In Town

The Rivers State Gymnastics Association chairman, Engr. Diepiriye Jacob has appealed to the Rivers State government to also recognize gymnastics as it recognized soccer.
The hard working chairman of the state gymnastics association made this appeal while having a brainstorming meeting on the way forward for the sport in the state.
As of press time, Engr. Diepreye with his association members were planning to embark on gymnastic sensitization and enlightenment campaign for primary and secondary schools gymnastic competition in the state.
Speaking to The Newswriter sports desk, he disclosed that, the move is to make the sport popular like football in the state, stating that there is no better way to do it than taking the sport to the schools to catch them young, he stated.
He also appealed to private investors, corporate organizations and multinational companies operating in the state to come invest in the sport as to make it grow and regarded like football.
He explained that gymnastic is a sport that everybody in the society needed to stay healthy and energetic, adding that gymnastic is like the daily exercise engaged by everybody in the society.
“Gymnastic is not a new thing in our lives, we do it and live it everyday, only that we do not know it hence do not tap the huge benefit from it. If we could be trained by a professional of the sports, we will so much like it, because we live and stay with it all the time. Going to fetch water, you are doing gymnastic. What of climbing a staircase? You are still doing gymnastic,” he concluded. ###
