PROBLEMS OF TOILETLNG IN SCHOOLS
Problems of toileting in schools includes primarily:
I. Hanging on
ii. Poor fluid intake
iii. Unpleasant school toilet
Hanging ON
Hanging on is not going to the toilet when we need to, Jt can
be either voluntary – too busy dislike of school toilet etc.
Force – told to wait by school staff, not permitted to go during lesson time.
This can potentially have the following effects
Cause wetting accidents
Causes difficult for children over-reactive bladders
Causes constipation
INTAKE
Student frequently do not drink enough at school main!: to:
Not wanting to go to the toilet
Lack of access, to drinks or few opportunities to drink.
Poor drinking facilities
Lack of adequate or poorly maintained toilet facilities.
POOR FLUID intake RESULT
Dehydration
Strong urine which can initiate the bladder and lead to kidu stones reduce amount of urine bladder gets use to holdr resulting in the need to go more frequently.
* It increases urinary track infections which can cause rem kidney disease particularly in those students with bladd problems.
* Increase risk of constipation, which can result in soilin involuntary passing of stools.
