The king of Abonnema main town, the headquarters of Akukutoru local government area (Akulga), King D. G. Bob-Manuel, has appealed to the local government authorities to build sports facilities in their local government councils to accommodate the youths in sports activities.
King Bob-Manuel made this statement while chatting with journalists in his palace at Abonnema during the 51st Independent day celebration. The soft spoken gentle man of amicable disposition advised local government anchors to remember the youths as sports should be viewed as not ordinary activity of exercise, but rather should be seen as a means of providing job opportunity.
King D.G. Bob-Manuel of the Abonnema council of chiefs, pinpointed that the chairman of the LGA should have quality sports facilities in each of the schools, reason being that when the youths are engaged in academy works, they should also be engaged in sports activities and where the facilities are not available, they may tend to turn their energy to any avenue available to them, which may result to crime.
Barr. King D. G. Bob-Manuel asked, where there are no facilities, where will the youths be going to exercise out their talents? He stressed that, that will only push them to committing crime and other social vices which the society does not want.
King D. G. Bob-Manuel who is also the chairman of Rivers state Amateur Golfers Association therefore appealed to the authorities concerned to as a matter of urgency, think toward providing sports facilities for the youths to be accommodated. ###
