RIVCAS 7TH Provost Cup Kicks-off With Results

The 7th Rivers State College of Arts and Science soccer competition had commenced with two matches being played on the first day, 23rd march, 2012, at the school football pitch.
Law and Management Science department squaring out tested their might in a goalless draw. It was a tension soaked, competitive, as players from both sides exhibited high class of soccer artistry to the glamorous delight of fans and spectators.
Then came the second match for the day, Electronic department teaming together to consist a team summed up the team Elect-elect and took on public administration department. This was the toughest of the two matches for the day as both players played as if their lives depend on the result they intend to record. Both sides bagged red cards apiece in the second half. While the first goal came in the first half for mass comm. as they were called (public Administration) recorded their only goal in the match, in the second half. It was a match Elect Elect should have won considering the pressure they mounted on their opponent. Unfortunately the match ended 1-1 draw. No. 4 Jersey Badam was adjudged the most valuable player by journalists who watched the match.
Speaking to the Newswriter sports desks, Director of Sports of the institution, Wokoma Dagogo, A.k.a. Bishop, disclosed that he was happy for having a successful good run on the institution’s annual soccer fiesta.
Wokoma Dagogo, noted that in the seventh edition of the provosts soccer cup, lots of reasonable additions had been made, revealing that the females are also participating just after the end of the male edition.
He also revealed that best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer will go home with reasonable cash rewards These include others like most valuable player, best behaved team.
The amicable director of sports of the institution also revealed that the institution had been considerate in helping those players that are good in the competition soccer wise, but lack academicals, as the institution looked into their plight with a promotional condition where they do not do well in their exams.
He proudly stated that the institution has produced reasonable high playing footballers littered around the world. It is on record that most of the institution girls are now playing for Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, sponsored by the Rivers State government, adding that in the semi finals, the commissioner for sports, Rivers State, Hon. Fred Igwe and other notable sports personalities like Imama Amapakabo with others, will be part of the competition to pick players. He said the idea of the competition is to select players to represent the school at the all polytechnic games coming either September or November in Kebbi State. ###
