Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Khana Local Government Area, Amb. Marvin Yobana has donated a bus to the SIMplified Movement/Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), Khana LGA Chapter.

He made the donation on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Bori, the headquarters of the LGA, during the Thanksgiving and Prayer Meeting, and the Inauguration of the Chapter.

Secretary of the SIMplified Movement and Rivers Women Unite for Sim, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, made this known in a statement, on the same day.

Yobana, while donating the bus, urged the group to effectively utilize the vehicle to mobilize women in support of the rapid developmental initiatives championed by the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

The council chairman commended the governor’s peaceful disposition amidst all distractions and thanked him for flagging off the reconstruction of the Bori Zonal Hospital, which he said was almost ready for commissioning.

He disclosed plans for some major projects to be embarked from Monday in the LGA, including the construction of additional schools to improve the standard of education in the LGA.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator and founder of RWUS, Hon. Sotonye Toby-Fulton, harped on peace-building, noting that women and children are the worst victims whenever there is a crisis.

She urged women in the State to ensure peace in their various LGAs and also support Governor Fubara in his drive to develop the State.

She said, “Governor Fubara’s administration upholds the mantra of ‘Rivers First’ and is committed to involving everyone, especially women and children, in all the constituencies.”

Fulton conveyed the best wishes of the governor’s wife, Dame Valerie Fubara, to the women, and urged them to pray for the success of the governor in office.

Speaking during the vote of thanks, the convener, Chief (Mrs) Charity Deemua, thanked members of the SIMplified Movement and RWUS for travelling down to Khana LGA to inaugurate the chapter while also thanking Amb. Yobana for donating a bus to the Khana chapter of the movement.

On her part, former vice chairman of the Council, Dr Mrs Leton Ekoro, prayed to God to take control of the battles confronting the present administration in the State.

Earlier in the programme, there was an uplifting session of worship songs, during which the women offered prayers for the governor, his entire family, the Khana LGA, the State and Nigeria at large.

The anchorwoman, who is also the Secretary to the Khana LGA SIMplified Movement/Rivers Women Unite for Sim, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, facilitated an engaging atmosphere that charged up participants to happily and actively display their dancing steps as Ward 1 to Ward 20 were called out to dance and praise God in their best ways.

Highlights of the event included the inauguration of 20 RWUS ward leaders in the LGA.***
