COMMUNIQUE ADOPTED AT THE END OF THE 8TH National EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC) MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENTARY STAFF ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (PASAN) HELD FROM THURSDAY 1ST SATURDAY 3RD MARCH, 2012 AT RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMPLEX, PORT HARCOURT

At the end of deliberations, the 8TH National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting resolved:
1. That the NEC of PASAN expresses her appreciation to His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon .Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi; the speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Otelemaba Amaechree who was ably represented by the Deputy speaker, Leyii Kwanee; the Clerk, Rivers State House of Assembly, Sir Emmanuel Ogele Amaewule (JP),Staff of the State House of Assembly, and the entire people of the State for their warm reception accorded to NEC Members.
2. That the National Delegates Conference earlier scheduled to take place in March 2012 has been shifted to 25th April 2012 at Benue State House of Assembly, Makurdi; and consequently, the tenure of the present Executive Council (EXCO) of PASAN was extended to 25th April, 2012.
3. That every Chapter of the Association should send a comprehensive nominal and delegates list to reach the National Secretariat, before 30th March 2012, as a follow up to the National Delegates Conference coming up in Benue State.
4. That the Standing Order Committee should immediately swing into action, after the Committee’s recommendations for the National Delegates Conference were approved, in order to conduct a credible, free and fair election. To this end, all positions were zoned to the seven zones of the Association to ensure equity and fair representation in the activities of the Association.
5. That PASAN is formally affiliated to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). This implies that Chapter’s Statutory Obligations should be fulfilled in line with Rule 20 of PASAN Constitution 2011, so that PASAN could comply with Article 24 of the NLC Constitution on prompt payment of Check-off dues.
6. To encourage States that has not yet established their respective Houses of Assembly Service Commission to do so without further delay and the establishment of PASAN Chapters in such Commissions.
7. That State Chapters that are not financially up to date should do so before the forthcoming National Delegates Conference slated for Makurdi, Benue State on 25th April, 2012.
8. To condole the Government and people of Anambra State, and the family of the late lkemba of Nnewi, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu who passed to eternal glory after a meritorious service to his fatherland. ####
