Degema Principal Officers Urged To Reside Within Council

Principal officers of Degema Local Government Area have been asked to make efforts to reside within the Local Government Headquarters. This call was made at Degema by the Commissioner in charge of the Local Government in the State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Mbadiwe Allen Ewoh (JP) while addressing the workforce at the council.
Chief Ewoh explained that the call became imperative in view of the fact that without the residency of principal staff at the headquarters, it would be near impossible to discipline the subordinates.
The commissioner decried the high rate of indiscipline among staff and advised them to change their attitude to work or face the wrath of the commission.
He said “it is no longer business as usual as the commission was ready to apply the service rule to maintain the needed discipline in the service”.
Chief Ewoh assured the staff that the Commission would always promote their welfare provided they attend to their duties faithfully.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Daddy Pokuma expressed willingness to partner with the commission to maintain law and order among council workers.
Pokuma pledged that the council would always cater for staff welfare within available resources and challenged the workforce to take their job seriously.
Speaking, the Head of Local Government Administration in the council, Mr. Edward Banigo, disclosed that the council chairman had made available fund to pay arrears owed staff in the next two weeks.
Banigo further said that as a way of promoting efficiency among the staff, the council had concluded plans to organize an in-house training, and appealed to the council to renovate staff quarters to accommodate principal staff and provision of official vehicles. ###
