NIS Charges Staff To Prioritize Command’s Interest

The Passport Unit of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, has charged its staff to consider the good of the Unit and the Command at large above personal interest and benefits.

The Second-in-Command of the Unit, P. Njoku, who stated this when four of its Staff bagged the merit award of the Journalists Without Border in Port Harcourt recently, said the charge became imperative in order to intimate them on the mandate of their job.

According to her, the aim of the award should be to spur them to action and not otherwise.

Earlier in his speech, representative of the group, Damiete West, urged the awardees to keep improving on the standard which distinguished them for the award.

West said such will attract more honours to them and the Command.

He also explained that part of the reasons for their action was to recognize hard work and dedication to duty.

West further noted hard work and dedication must be appreciated in the work place in order to enhance performance.

“We must learn how to celebrate those doing well in their various enterprises. That is why we are here today. The awardees may not be the best, at least, they are good at their jobs”, he said.

Speaking on behalf of others, one of the award recipients, ASI1, I.J Didia, said she was surprised when she was informed about the gesture in her office a day to the event.

Didia thanked her Boss, DCI Audimusa Maisudan, and others for their care and support and promised to put in her best for the overall interest of the Command.

The awardees are, DSI Sani Aliyu, DSI Moses N. TAIDI, ASI1 I.J Didia and ASI1 E.O. Jackson.
