Rivers Assembly Restates Commitment On Electoral Promises Delivery

Victor Effiong

Rivers State House of Assembly says it is fully committed to delivering on its promises to the people of the state.

Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, made the commitment when members of the Assembly Press Corps paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Assembly complex.

Amaewhule commended members of the Press Corps for their contributions to the growth of the Assembly, while assuring them of a good working relationship and conducive environment for ease of their reportage.

The speaker further noted that mechanisms are in place to ensure that all departments in the State Assembly become fully functional.

Earlier, Chairman, Rivers State House of Assembly Press Corps, Dr Ijeoma Tubosia, while making her presentation, said the essence of the visit was to interact with the leadership of the State Assembly to chart a good working relationship and to make the working environment conducive for members of the press corps.

Tubosia highlighted some challenges experienced by members of the corps in the cause of carrying out their duties at the assembly.

Some of the request include an improved sound system at the hallowed Chamber, increased light density, and holding of quarterly briefings on activities of the Assembly, which “is very important to the advancement of the Assembly reportage”.

She, however, commended the Speaker for the considerable progress recorded in few months of his assumption to office and assured him of the commitment of the Press Corps in covering and reporting the activities of the House.
