ACN Cautions Governor Amaechi On Further Demolitions

The Rivers chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), says Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has no moral justification to embark on further demolition of structures in the state.
This is contained in a press statement issued and signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Party, Jerry Needam which accused Amaechi of want of what to do with the time and resources at his disposal.
According to the ACN spokesman, it’s irrational to proceed with further disruption of the residents’ economic activities and social life of the people when judicious use of the already demolished sites has not been made with thousands of former occupants rendered hungry and hopeless.
Jerry Needam enjoined governor Amaechi to rather focus his attention on road rehabilitations and reconstructions now the rains are yet to set in.
The ACN regretted that the dry season is fast giving way for the rains yet governor Amaechi who has always promised to be waiting for the rains for serious work to begin on the uncompleted and new projects is carrying on as though the dry season has not come.
On the ongoing demolition of the Railway quarters and the intending similar exercise on Ikwerre Road and Rukpuku, the ACN demanded for an immediate halt, calling the move atrocious and unkind to the hopeless occupants.
“In no part of the world is this kind of work contemplated by government with the concomitant consequences without sufficient notice to the affected persons to prepare their minds and look for alternatives before actual implementation. But unfortunately here, Amaechi can wake up any time and launch a programme that rattles even the un-born baby without blinking an eye”, Jerry Needam regretted.
