Citizens of Rivers State are calling on the executive governor chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to exercise caution on the crop of human beings to be selected as caretaker chairmen for the Local Government Areas in the state given the stagnant nature of governance at the local government levels, where according to them, caretaker committee chairmen are either selfish or wicked driven aimed at eating alone and are jostling to return to continue their wickedness from where they stopped.
Those who spoke to The Newswriter Political editor expressed worry and disappointment over the activities of some CTC chairmen who could not carry out single project in their respective areas, pointed out that the spate of criminality at the local government areas are also due to lack of government presence.
According to Mr. Bright Chisom, “one of the reasons for these criminality in the LGAs is lack of government presence at the grassroots, if you go to some of the LGAs, you will hardly find a CTC chairman in office, it is everyday meeting with the governor, they claim while in the reality they are with their girl friends in hotels. The CTC chairmen are not working, no single culvate can be sighted in the LGAs, so why do you think hoodlums can’t operate?
In her contribution, Madam Joyce Uzo said “some of the CTC chairmen are not working; they are after sharing the council’s allocation with their principal officers instead of any small project within their tenure. Now, they are struggling to be returned, the governor if he wants to maintain his good name should screen well before appointing anyone to chairman of their councils. People are suffering and the governor’s name and PDP is at stake because of bad men appointed to lead the councils”.
Furthermore, Mr. Kelvin Ifeanyi has added that “If the present administration of governor Wike is to continue in good governance and earn the people’s support, then it is for him (the governor) to appoint human beings into the councils to provide governance because most of them in the councils now and those already sacked are bunches of irresponsibilities, who do not care about the feelings of electorate and the common masses at the grassroots rather after their private purses. I can mention many of them who cannot account for their many months of chairmanship because of greed, inexperience, inefficiency and lack of interaction on how to please the people and move the grassroots forward.”
The citizens have however, advise the governor to save his head, by being mindful of his fame while appointing chairmen of caretaker committee of councils especially now that the service period have been extended by the State Assembly.
They also call on the governor to sometimes by pass the so called elders or leaders of the respective LGAs and interact privately with some indigenes who could provide him with useful information on the performance of the chairmen.
By their disposition, the said elders have the culture of saving the CTC chairmen perhaps they have gotten some pocket monies from the chairman or have great regard for their supposed leaders against the suffering stalwarts and masses. ###
