Slaughter Market Crisis: Obio/Akpor CTC Boss In Trouble…As 2 Killed, Scores Injured

ONUWOR COLLINSThe lingering leadership tussle rocking the Oginigba slaughter market at the weekend took a fearful twist as two factions clashed.

Our correspondent who visited the market reported that during the bloody clash no fewer than two (2) traders were brutally killed while scores sustained life threatening injuries. During the fight dangerous weapons such as matchetes, bottles were freely used.

Information had it that problems started when the Caretaker Committee chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, CTC Prince Collins Onuwor appointed some other persons to be incharge of the market other than the authentic and original leadership.

Sources told this publication that the CTC boss undermined the existing leadership of the market by creating his own factional leadership.

Mr. Musa one of the traders told our reporter that the crisis was caused by Prince Collins Onuwor, the OBALGA CTC chairman because of selfishness and greed. According to Musa there is already an existing leadership overseeing the affairs of the market, until the CTC chairman interferes with the smooth day to day running of the market.

He advised the Obalga boss to stay clear from the administration of the market, describing Prince Onuwor as a “confusionist” whose aim is to highjack the leadership of the Oginigba slaughter Market. He observed that Prince Onuwor is a trouble maker, who do not have the interest of the traders at heart.

Meanwhile Comrade John Emeka, a youth activist in Rumuola community has blasted the Obalga CTC chairman that his tenure has ben crisis-ridden, and characterized by chieftaincy tussles here and there.

Comrade Emeka condemned the attitude of Prince Onuwor towards the chieftaincy institution in Obio/Akpor LGA. The youth activist maintained that the CTC boss has no respect for chiefs and traditional rulers in the area. He appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike to call Prince Onuwor to order before he rubbish his (Wike) administration, adding his continue stay in office can equally turn the LGA upside down.

All efforts to contact the CTC chairman, Prince Onuwor proved abortive as at the time of going to press. ###
