Abua/Odual: N3m Fraud Rocks Electricity Committee

The Electricity Committee set up by the chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Abua/Odual Local Government Area; Chief Oye Igenewari is now entangled in a financial mess. Information reaching our crime desk revealed that in the past five (5) months the LGA has been in total darkness, following a non-remittance of the electricity bill collected from the people to the appropriate quarters, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED).

Reliable sources hinted this weekly that a total sum of about three (3) million naira meant for the payment of electricity bill is missing, and as a result PHED has disconnected the LGA from power supply.

When our correspondent contacted PHED, Moscow road, Port Harcourt, it was gathered that the council is owing the company huge amount of money.

Meanwhile an indigene of the LGA, Comrade Evans Boroye has accused the CTC chairman and members of the Electricity Committee of deliberately setting the LGA into what he calls “outer darkness”. He described the situation as unfortunate and embarrassing” lamenting that the corruption in Abua/Odual has gone beyond the roof. ###
