Two Rivers Indigenes Get Presidential Scholarship Award

In a bid to encourage academic excellence in the country, President Goodluck Jonathan has awarded scholarship to 52 National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members for their outstanding performance and contribution to society during their service year.
Two out of the 52 corps members are from Rivers State. They are, Christabel Ekeoma, from Onelga and Mr. Uranta Kingsley Godwin, from Opobo/Nkoro local government Area.
The awardees are to study in any tertiary institution in any part of the world up to PHD level without stress on their parents as the federal government has taken the responsibility of seeing to their educational career to the highest level.
This weekly gathered that Miss Ekeoma read medical physiology in Uniport and won lots of awards in Kwara State where she served and also won the state award.
Mr. Uranta on his part, read chemical engineering, served in Anambra State and also won several awards.
Speaking shortly after presented themselves to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari in Port Harcourt, the over joyous duo expressed their appreciations to the Rivers State government for all the support given to students of Rivers state tertiary institutions.
Expressing their gratitude to the president also, they said, with the award, the federal government has given them automatic employment cum scholarship to study in any part of the world up to PHD level.
In their advice to all NYSC members, they said all NYSC members should remain focused and articulate to contribute their quota to better the lot of society. ###
