Delga: Bakana Monarch Goes Tough on Cultists

The Amanyanabo of Bakana Community in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State HRH O. O. Odum VIII has warned cultists operating in his domain to repent and tread the path of peace, saying that his reign will not tolerate any form of gangsterism in the community.

The Bakana monarch also lauded Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his fight against cultism and criminal elements in the state.

The Amanyanabo of Bakana was speaking at the press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

He frowned at the way and manner in which cultists are terrorizing the state. Odum VIII who is also a 2nd class traditional ruler in the State said that Governor Wike  is committed to the peaceful development, expressed optimism that with the ongoing war against cultists, the state will soon experience total peace.

The paramount ruler advised other traditional rulers in the Degema Local Government Area not to allow cultists to operate in the jurisdiction. He further advised the traditional rulers to expose cultists in their communities.

The 2nd class traditional ruler in Kalabari kingdom promised to join hands with the Rivers State government to flush out cultists in the Degema Local Government Area.

He felicitated with Pastor Fubara Agiobu as the new Caretaker Committee, CTC Chairman of Degema LGA, expressing hope that his tenure will bring speedy development into the LGA.

The Amanyanabo thanked the Governor for appointing Pastor Agiobu as the CTC chairman of Degema LGA, noting that with his (Agiobu) wealth of political and administrative experience, he will bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of every Delgan. Odum VIII assured the new CTC chairman that he will partner with him to tackle the security challenges in the LGA.

Also speaking Chief J. B. Tom Iboroma V, the secretary of the Chiefs’ Council revealed that they have contacted the Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo and other relevant authorities to draft security officers to the Bakana community.

He believed strongly that in no distant time every security situation will become normal in the Bakana community. Chief Iboroma V, however threw his weight behind the appointment of Pastor Agiobu as the new CTC of Delga, pointing out that his tenure will bring transformation into the LGA.  ###
