Worried by the increasing wave of violence and killings in the different parts of Rivers State, the Amadabo of Omekwe-Ama community in Asari-Toru Local Government Area, HRH A.L. Apadikiri Horsfall has advised politicians in the state not to do anything that will cause problems in their constituencies and wards.
HRH Apadikiari Horsfall who gave the advised while exchanging views with our correspondent in Port Harcourt on Monday, frowned at politicians whose intention is to use violence to seize power from their opponents. The royal father kicked against any form of political violence and killings, adding that no community experiences peace and orderliness in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
The paramount ruler called on the politicians to tread on the path of peace and play the politics according to the rule of the game to avoid anything that will ignite troubles in the state.
The Amandabo had earlier felicitated with Governor Nyesom Wike for one year purposeful leadership in office.
According to the royal father, Governor Wike has done well within his first year in office. He gave kudos for the governor especially in the areas of completion of Obonoma/Abonnema road, Iwofe/Rmuolumeni Road, Eagle Island/Ilaobuchi link Road, Egbelu/Ogbogoro raod, Law faculty building in RSUST, Payment of backlog of salaries and several other developmental projects.
He applauded the governor for not abandoning the projects already embarked by the former administration, stating that government is a continuous process. HRH Apadikiari Horsfall pleaded with the governor to consider the road in central group axis of Asalga. The central group comprises of six (6) communities namely: Angulama, Omekwe-Ama, Omekwe-Tariama, Minama, Sangama and Krakrama.
The paramount ruler noted that if the road in the central group is constructed, it will boost the domestic economy of the state.
He further revealed that three (3) out of six (6) communities in the central group axis are in total darkness, “because they are yet to connect to the national grid”. These affected communities according to him include: Omekwe-Ama, Angulama and Omekwe-Tariama.
He called on the relevant authorities to intervene urgently to save the said communities from perpetual darkness by connecting them to the national grid. ###
