Go-rounds/Swan Secondary Schools Athletics Championship Kick-off February 2

FELIX OBUAHThe much anticipated Go-Round/SWAN secondary schools Athletics championship 2016 officially commenced 2nd of February, 2016 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium.
The 3-days championship was full of excitement, and was chairman by former minister of Sports, Dr. Tammy Danagogo when giving his speech, Dr. Tammy Danagogo said, the Go-Round/SWAN secondary schools athletic championship 2016 will afford the opportunity to Rivers State to discover budding talents for future competitions, both local and international.
Dr. Danagogo Commended the sponsor, Bro. Felix Obuah for his good gesture of sponsoring the championship solely.
He said, he is not surprise as sports has been his passion for over 30 years.
He urged the athletes to take the opportunity offered them by Bro. Felix Obuah name as to make the best use of it, noting that if they distinguished themselves, they will also be remembered like an icon, like Adokiye Amiesimaka which was named after the stadium of the championship.
For Bro. Felix Obuah, the sole sponsor of the championship, said, his passion for sports has driven him to sponsoring the championship, stressing that he believes from this championship African Usein Bolt is going to be discovered.
He assured the participating students that lots of awards await them, if they can only discipline themselves and serious with the competition.
He realed out the awards awaiting them as Gov. Nyesom Wike’s ward for best LGA, commissioner for Education scholarship award for indigent students.
Bro. Felix Obuah trophy for overall winning local government, Bro. Felix Obuah Scholarship award to the best twenty (20) athletes, chief Adokiye Amiesimaka award for most outstanding male athlete.
Others are, chief Adokiye Amiesimaka award for most female athlete, Hon. Samuel Ejekwu award for male/female category and national Swan award for most disciplined athlete.
Hon. Boma Iyaye, the commissioner for sport, Rivers State, said, the Rivers State government will always encourage and supports individuals and corporate organizations who would want to sponsor sports.
He commended the sponsor for his noble vision of sponsoring the championship single handedly.
However, distinguishing LGAs and athletes are expected to eye, the best LGA march past award, most discipline athletes award, overall 3rd best award, overall 2nd best award
Overall winner award, overall best male athlete award overall best female athlete award.
