Opobo Kingdom: Traditional Ruler Drowns in River

There was wailing and gnashing of teeth in Queens town in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State as a prominent traditional ruler (name withheld) in the community drowned in the river.

The chief as we had gathered held from the Minimah’s family. Sources informed this weekly that, the traditional ruler died in a mysterious circumstance.

An eyewitness hinted our reporter in the area that the deceased who was about 70 years of age “walked to the waterfront, dropped his walking stick and cap and waved his hands telling the people goodbye, thereafter walked into the river and drowned.

As at the time of filing in this report, the remains of the deceased had been recovered and deposited in a mogul in Port Harcourt. ###
