Rivers Commissioner For Sports Proposes Principal Cup

Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye has proposed to Bro. Felix Obuah to look at reviving principal soccer cup in secondary schools to discover raw budding talents for the state.

The commissioner made this appeal when SWAN and Bro. Felix Obuah were in his office to finalise modalities in SWAN/Go-Round partnership Athletes competition for secondary schools.

According to the commissioner, Government cannot do everything in sports, hence the gesture of Bro. Felix Obuah SWAN, partnership sponsorship of the secondary schools Athletics is timely. Commending Bro. Felix Obuah for assisting the Rivers State government with his noble contributions to sports.

He also added that it would have been the responsibility of the Rivers State government to have organize the Athletic competition, hence the commendation to Bro. Felix Obuah on his generosity.

It would be recalled that players like Richard Oronbokiri, Adokiye Amasiemaka were all discovered from secondary schools.

Rivers State is blessed with abundant soccer talents if only the sports authority could look inward by encouraging principal soccer cup in all secondary schools in the state.

SWAN was also advised to be business like in doing their work in reporting accurately the forthcoming athletics competition for all secondary schools, as the success of it all will bring forth other opportunities for the association. ###
