2012 Niger Delta Polo Tournament Ends Well

The much anticipated 2012 Niger Delta polo tournament came to an end on Saturday January 28, 2012, with its glamour, ending well with a promise of making the next edition much better.
The one week long tournament was competed for in three major trophies, the state governor’s cup and two other trophies. Winners emerged in all the categories and were promptly given their prizes. In all, the tournament was adjudged one of the best in recent years, no major causality was reported throughout the tournament.
Barrister Soala Bob-Manuel, one of the sponsors of the tournament while chatting with sports journalist shortly after the prize giving ceremony, disclosed that the tournament was superb, it has never been so good in the past, stressing that polo is an expensive game that could be played by anybody.
He pointed out that Port Harcourt polo club will sponsor categories of people who are interesting in the horses and humans but not having job,.
He also revealed that polo is better played at a tender age as the sport is a dangerous sport with lots of intelligence and strength to go with. That is the more reason it is better to play younger at the age of seven years, when bones are not so strong.
Port Harcourt Polo club is one of the four internationally recognized polo clubs in the world. Those who won prizes urged the Nigerian government to keep up with the game but providing befitting polo fields as to enable many young upcoming polo stars to be discovered.
The day ended with invited musicians and comedians putting up spices as they dazzled audience with their tones and rib cracking jokes. It was an occasion of who is who in the Rivers State political circle as they honoured the tournament in their numbers. ###
