Chief Cookey-Gam War Canoe House And Chief Rawlingson George-Cookey-Gam Case, Journey So Far

The lingering case between Chief Cookey-Gam War Canoe House and Chief Rawlingson Cookey-Gam came up 24th Tuesday, January 24, 2012 and Wednesday, 25, for hearing.
The case which has lasted about 4 years (2008-2012) was adjourned by the presiding judge, Justice Ahiakwo of the Port Harcourt High Court.
Witness for chief Cookey-Gam War Canoe House, Senibo Dienye Bell-Gam, Chairman of the House, who was put in the witness box, testified for the documents he had earlier presented to the court in respect of the case which were regarded as exhibit A, B, and D, led by Barr. Okey Wali (SAN) and other lawyers.
Documents which contained the following: Gazette containing laws of Eastern region of Nigeria 1959 Vol. 1 B477. the trading states of oil Rivers by G.1 Jones, a letter dated 14th April, 2008 to chief Rawlingson George Cookey-Gam from stopping him (George Cookey-Gam) from opposing Semapa in Cookey-Gam House and development cycle of the canoe house 173 which reads in part “On the death of the founder or later head of the canoe house or group of canoe Houses his successor was chosen by the members of the house or group of Houses,” were read to the hearing of Barrister A. A. Brown leading other lawyers which he (Barr. Brown) said he had no objection.
Justice Ahiakwo later adjourned the case to 4th, 16th and 17th of April 2012 for accelerated hearing. ###
