Rivers SWAN Gets New Bus

The Rivers State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been given a brand new Bus by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, courtesy of the appeal made to him by the National President of SWAN, Saidu Abubakar in the association visit to the governor.

Presenting the Bus to the National President of SWAN, Chief of Government House, Chief Emeka Woke said government is aware of the importance of the association hence, Governor Wike listened to the appeal made by the SWAN president and had granted his request.

The brief handover ceremony was completed by the president of SWAN handed over the documents and key of the new Bus to the state SWAN Boss, Honour Sirawoo before members of the full council of SWAN at the Government House front.

In appreciation, the national SWAN president recounted how he made the appeal when SWAN paid a courtesy call on the governor before the National U-23 Dream Team 6 took on their Congolese National U-23Dream Team, here in Port Harcourt at Adokiye Amiesiemaka stadium.

The National SWAN Boss thanked the governor and appealed to the state chapter of the sports writers to make good use of the Bus.

It was a thing of joy as the state SWAN Boss, Honour Sirawoo in company of the national SWAN Boss rode on the new brand Bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists press centre, Ernest Ikoli at Moscow Road.

It would be recalled that the only Bus SWAN was managing was given to Rivers SWAN by former Governor Peter Odili, which had since served it usefulness and had become a death trap to members of the state sports writers.

In clarity, the National SWAN Boss, stated that, the old Bus given to the Rivers State Sports Writers Association has become death trap hence he the appeal to the present governor to replace the old Bus, as it is dangerous for Rivers State SWAN members to ride on the Bus in doing their job.

The day was crown with the full council of SWAN meeting at the Ernest Ikoli press centre successful, after the visit of the chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, King Dandeson Douglas, Jeki V. Amanyanabo of Opobo and Bro. Felix Obuah, proprietor of Go-Round Football Club at his waste management office. ###
